究竟是watch a movie還是see a movie才是正確呢? 可能因為看電視是watch TV，很多人直覺就以為see a movie是不正確的，其實用"watch"還是"see"是要視乎情況而定的。如果是在家中用電視、電腦、手機、DVD或藍光碟看電影，那麼我們會用watch a movie。但是如果是到電影院看電影的話，那我們就需要用see a movie。另外，在一般情況下，如果我們想問人有沒有看過某一套電影時，我們會問 Have you (ever) seen _________ (before)?
要留意的是see a movie 不能有現在進行式(Present Continuous tense)，如果在電影院看電影中途，有人打電話給你，你想告訴對方你正在看電影，你應該說I'm watching a movie，而不是I'm seeing a movie。
如果你喜歡到電影院看電影，一般習慣上會說：
I like going to the cinema. (英)
I like going to the movies. (美)
順帶一提，在英式英語中，電影院是cinema，在美式英語中則是movie theater。（theater是美式的寫法，theatre是英式的寫法。)
